Tiger’s second from the deep rough comes out soft and short and it might’ve dropped in a pond. A bad start gets worse. All three guys hit less than driver off the tee and Tiger misses the fairway left. Back to the deep stuff.
On 9 no need for a driver and Woods hangs back with iron off the tee. It finds the the short grass. All system’s go. Tiger’s putt from 6 feet 5 inches….and it’s good! That’s five birdies on the front nine and Woods is within two. Getting louder and louder out there.
Koepka at 15 under. Tiger finishes T3 at 12 under. Good god is that Rickie Fowler’s music?! Y’all have Koepka covered but there’s a host of top sticks within four shots of the lead. I think there’s a good chance Koepka stalls while Rickie takes the W at 14 under two shots ahead of Tiger Woods.
Woods for birdie…and it comes up 2 revolutions short. He hasn’t made a putt longer than 17 feet this week. But he heads to the 12th tee just three shots back. At 11 Tiger from the center of the fairway … another wedge….and it skips it back to about 15 feet. Not bad. Another birdie chance.
Putting from the same tier and similar line as Woods JT leaves his lag about 8 feet short. Let’s see if Tiger learned something there. Woods with a 7-iron…and it finds the green but only the front tier with the pin tucked in the back. It’ll be a long lag from there.
