Up ahead on 12 Spieth from deep in the trees blasts over (or into?) the woods. He’s now hitting a provisional. Apparently this is Spieth’s second provisional on 12 after also hitting one off the tee (they found the original shot). Spieth’s fourth shot skirts through the fairway. This could be a mess for Spieth. We’ll see if that first one is found.
It’s a lob wedge…and again it’s excellent. Looks like about 6 feet left for another birdie this to get to eight under. Woods lays up on 8 and from 105 yards it’s time to dial in another wedge…
With his next bunker shot Woodland sails the green AGAIN! He’s ended up in his own foot prints from his first bunker shot. Yikes. Woodland’s bunker shot sails right over the green into another bunker. Kisner has a much better result.
Woods drains it. He’ll sign for a four-under 66 and he’s four under for the event six shots back. Again this comes after he started the event with a double and a bogey. Those three shots still loom large. JT pars and is six under and very much in this thing. Rory finishes three under and needs to start moving quickly in his third round. That’s all for now for the blog. Back in a bit.
Woodland comes up 10-12 feet short with his long eagle putt at 17. Fowler sticks his approach at 18. Koepka hits a great second shot at 17 to about 18 feet. He’ll have that for an eagle to grow his lead.
