Big rebound birdie for Tiger. You could hear the roar from the media center. He’s back to six under now. Justin Thomas birdies the 1st and 3rd holes and climbs to eight under now T3. Tiger grabs a six-iron on the 198-yard par-3 6th hole and puts it close. About 12-15 feet coming for birdie.
Woods’s lag comes up about 4 feet short. Little meat left on that bone. Woods from 203 yards…online…but comes up short of the stick. Still it’s on the green maybe 30-40 feet left for birdie. Woods stripes one off the tee with driver. That’s right: a fairway hit with a driver. Meanwhile Rory snaps his tee ball into the left bunker.
Fair point on the creakiness but the best scenario for Woods would’ve been no storm and no weather delay at all. Friday was quite possibly the softest most gettable setup in major championship history. Hard to know if the elements will conspire to make it equally inviting on Saturday. (Although I suppose it’ll still be soft.)
